What changes in the VP3 to PES conversion
From Husqvarna Viking/Pfaff to Brother, the VP3 thread table is simplified into a PES palette: colors follow, digitizing notes stay behind.
- Each VP3 thread-table entry becomes a PES palette color, in the same order.
- Any VP3 digitizing notes are not carried into the PES.
- Dimensions and stitch count stay identical.
- The design is ready for any Brother or Babylock machine, colors included.

Understanding the VP3 and PES formats
VP3 .vp3 · as a source file
VP3 is the most complete source: a thread table (brand, code, tint), digitizing notes, dimensions and hoop position. Toward a rich format, everything transfers; toward a flat format (DST, EXP), only the geometry passes and the thread table flattens into thread-change commands.

- ColorsThread table (brand, code), up to 255 colors
- MetadataDigitizing notes, position within the hoop
- DimensionsMillimeters, stored at the end of the file

PES .pes · as an output file
As a target, PES produces a file every Brother and Babylock machine can read, ready to open in PE-Design, Embrilliance Essentials or Ink/Stitch. If the source carries no colors (DST, EXP), a default palette is built in thread-change order; otherwise the original palette is kept.

Machine compatibility and dimensions
VP3 dimensions, stored in millimeters, are carried as-is into the PES: the Brother design keeps its original size and center. Large Husqvarna hoops (for example 240 × 150 mm) do not all have a Brother equivalent: check that the hoop of your machine covers the footprint.
